This is my second review of a unit of the George Foreman grills that are available today and many people consider as an interesting product. The specific indoor electric grill that I am talking about here is the George Foreman GGR50B indoor outdoor grill. Although this unit looks pretty good at a first glance there are a couple of things that could be improved with this griddle grill.
To begin with, the unit doesn’t come along with a manual. I was really surprised when I first discovered it since I remembered that when I purchased the George Foreman grill GRP99 it did came with a nice manual that also listed readable instruction and temperatures that helped me with cooking different foods and also tips for maintaining the indoor electric griddle.
It would be a good idea to use the unit on a flat surface for maximum efficiency. Since I tried to use the George Foreman indoor grill on a really flat and good surface and on a less level and flat surface I can notice a big difference in the performance. If the surface isn’t leveled then grease and other liquids might cause some problems and flow on the floor and on your hands if you are not too careful (so watch out). However, as long as you use the appropriate surface you probably won’t have any grease problems with the George Foreman GGR50B indoor outdoor grill.
A small tip that I can give you if your floor is not quite even you can still use the George Foreman grill GGR50B with decent results but you would have to move the unit around. Put it a few inches to one direction and then another until you get the unit stable and relatively leveled, so you pretty much have to play with it but it would be worth it in the end. The George Foreman indoor electric grill would just work much better if it is leveled and stable.
I have to stress that even when the George Foreman GGR50B indoor outdoor grill is placed in a good and level floor there might be some mess in the lower part of the griddle grill. You can also clean the George Foreman outdoor grill in the sink if the sink is big enough, and you should be careful when you clean the electric griddle grill when it’s still hot. It is recommended to let the unit cool a bit before any cleaning actions are performed.
In addition, you should be aware that using any metal utensils on the George Foreman grill GGR50B that are not Teflon safe will probably cause irreversible damage to the cooking surface of the griddle grill. You should be really gentle when you clean the surface of the unit if you want it to last for a long time and still perform well (you can check a meat loaf recipe that many people like and give it a try).
On a good note, the George Foreman electric grill cooks the food great and I like it more than other propane and gas grills that I have used. Since the unit is powered by electricity you just don’t have to wait a lot of time until the surface is hot enough for the food to be placed on, unlike the common coal grills. The George Foreman GGR50B indoor outdoor grill is a nice alternative to other electric griddles or grills that can be found today.
The previous post that I made was about the Presto Electric Griddle, or more accurately, a specific model of the Presto brand that is called the Presto BigGriddle.
