We have decided to do some research on those popular Presto electric griddles and see if we should also get one of those griddle grills. Since I am love cooking and have some experience with it, I tried to find indoor electric grill that we could use to cook not only hashbrowns and pancakes for breakfasts but also thick meat, flat breads and other foods. One of the most interesting units that took our attention was the Presto big griddle cool touch electric griddle.
However, some of the negative reviews caused me to be a bit worried about the performance of the indoor electric griddle and especially the heat distribution across the surface. Therefore, after getting the appliance I simply preheated the grill griddle to around 400 degrees for a bit longer than ten minutes. After throwing some pancakes and the flat breads that I like so much on the Presto biggriddle I can safely say that the results are wonderful.
Other than the lovely pancakes, we have managed to place four flat breads simultaneously, a much better option in my opinion over using multiple frying pans (and we are using only one Presto griddle). It’s not only a more simple option, but it is faster and more convenient as well. After using the electric grill griddle for pancakes (and other foods), we are pretty happy with the way they are cooked, quite evenly (not perfectly brown, but still good) and tasty.
For those who complain about the pancakes not being cooked perfectly even, I can say that most of the griddle grills have some issues with it, such as the George Foreman indoor grill and the Rival electric griddle. Both of those brands including the Presto Company are well known for producing popular kitchen products, including griddle electric units, grills, skillets and other kitchen units. I also happen to have the George Foreman indoor electric grill which I like a lot.
About the cleaning of the Presto 07046 griddle – apparently, cleaning this Presto electric griddle is rather easy when compared to other griddles. This is thanks to the tilt n drain feature and because the great unit is dishwasher safe and fully submersible in water. Moreover, we knew we wanted to get a large electric grill, so when we wash it in the big sink in our kitchen it makes cleaning a lot easier. We would really miss the Presto big griddle in case it would stop working, it does a great job of cooking and the unit is user friendly and very big.
In addition, some people said in their reviews that the handles of the Presto biggriddle just popped loose during usage. Well, it didn’t happen to us even once, maybe since we put the indoor electric griddle on our nice cooking range. Basically, if you don’t move the Presto griddle during cooking or when it’s hot (it is very dangerous), there is no reason for the handles to pop out.
You can check the previous post George Foreman grill GRP99 in case you missed it.
Other than the units described above there are many other griddle grills and designs that some might do the job and others may not. However, without good recipes it might be hard to test the indoor grill so you can check a Cooking site that might be of interest to you.
In addition, although the Presto Big griddle is very popular and is expected to stay popular in the near future, there are probably a couple of other electric griddles that may present better results (but their price is usually a bit higher). Many people already know that the average Presto electric griddle can be considered as a cheap unit when you compare its price to the cost of other griddles. While some prefer more expensive units such as the Cuisinart griddler, others claim that the Presto Big griddle is just as good.
